Meet Monica @ The Market!

She can't get there every  market day, but when she can Monica will 'Tweet' which market she goes to and it will show up on both the front page of the web site and our Facebook cafe page, as well as on Twitter. The first person to find her at the market will win a prize! She tries to remember to wear her blue apron and always carries a cloth bag, so she is easy to find!

When you do find her she will talk about what's fresh from the farms that day and offer recipes for whatever you purchase, talk with you and introduce you to the farmers and venders, so that you can have a great personal relationship with the people growing and making your food, just like we do!

What a great way to spend a day!

WINES FROM ITALY

&

WINES FROM WASHINGTON

We seek out the unusual finds at great prices and make them easy for you to get!

We have wines from a couple of family owned estate wineries in Washington

And several regions in Italy

We sell our wines at retail prices, not restaurant prices, so that you can have more access to great wines!

Monica’s offers 15% case discount, on straight AND mixed cases.

To see our wine list with tasting notes click HERE

Monica tasted and selected each of these wines for their unique qualities and excellent values, and you will not find this particular selection anywhere else.

There are limited quantities available: the Italian wines are direct imports from small vineyards in Italy, and the Washington wines are often from small batches, so once they are gone, they are GONE.

Our wines are usually discounted at our wine tasting events.

Small Vineyards Imports only brings in wine that they are passionate about.

All of their wines are from family estates that are dry-farmed and hand-harvested.

Many of these families only produce a few hundred cases a year of each wine, and we are lucky enough to have some! Some of these wines are exceedingly rare and collectable. All of them are wonderfully drinkable! We also follow these guidelines when choosing Washington wines, so you know you are getting the best quality for the best price.

Monica’s Waterfront Bakery & Café Takes Sustainability Leadership Role by Becoming Carbon Free

[Silverdale, Wash -- November, 2008] Monica’s Waterfront Bakery & Café announced that they are offsetting their carbon emissions with Carbonfund.org, one of the country’s leading carbon offset organizations. Monica’s was able to offset the emissions of their business and each one of their employees. By joining Carbonfund.org’s CarbonFree® Partner program, Monica’s has joined a national movement of businesses and organizations that are leading the fight against global warming. Leading by example, Monica’s hopes to encourage everyone to take positive steps to make a difference.

“We want to leave a smaller footprint on this earth and we want to help our employees, and the community at large, to do the same. We feel like this is one way to really make a difference with our efforts, and that is extra important in this time when so many are feeling helpless,” said Monica Downen, owner and operator of Monica’s Waterfront Bakery & Café. “Monica’s Team is grateful to each customer who walks through our door. We know that you choose to come here and spend your time and money with us. We want you to know that we are taking our responsibility, being active in our community, and taking better care of you with every bite you take.”

Carbonfund.org’s CarbonFree® Partner program supports renewable energy, energy efficiency, and reforestation projects in the U.S. and abroad to reduce CO2 pollution and help hasten our transition to a clean energy future. To date, Carbonfund.org has worked with over 900 business partners to be part of the solution to global warming, encouraging all businesses to reduce what they can and offset what they can’t.

“I love it every time we are able to partner with a small business that is just trying to do what is right for the climate,” said Eric Carlson, Executive Director of Carbonfund.org. “Businesses like Monica’s are offsetting for all the right reasons – their commitment to the environment is commendable and we are looking forward to helping them continue to find ways to reduce and offset their carbon impact.”

About Monica’s Waterfront Bakery & Café

The Team at Monica’s is known for thinking globally and acting locally, and actively giving back to the community. Monica’s has focused on sustainability since their first day of business, when they put in CFL bulbs in all the light sockets. From organic, fair trade and locally roasted coffee to regionally produced flour, and everything in between, they source locally and/or organically whenever possible, utilizing suppliers that are also committed to sustainability. The team composts their food waste, recycles everything that the county allows, subscribes to green power, purchases post-consumer recycled products, uses chemical-free cleaning supplies except where required by law, and promotes re-use and sharing of items.

You can learn more about Monica’s Waterfront Bakery & Café, Carbonfund.org, and their other suppliers by visiting their web site at www.waterfrontbakery.com, or visiting in person at 3472 NW Byron St, Silverdale, WA 98359.
